After installing and activating Pathmetrics, it’s a good idea to run a quick test to make sure everything is tracking correctly, from cookie consent to form submission.
This process will check that:
Visitor tracking starts only after cookie consent
Page views and visit time are logged correctly
The conversion (form submission) is captured
The conversion path appears in your WordPress dashboard
This helps simulate a fresh, first-time visitor with no cookies or sessions saved.
Start on your homepage or a landing page that has a form or leads to one.
Make sure the cookie banner appears and that you click to accept analytics cookies.
If you don't see a banner, check that your cookie plugin is installed and active.
Click through 2–3 pages and stay on each for a few seconds. This will help Pathmetrics build a trackable journey.
Fill in the form and submit it, ensure you are using a supported form plugin.
Return to your WordPress dashboard and go to the new form entry that is added by your form builder plugin. Look for the most recent conversion in the list. You should see:
The channel (e.g., direct, organic, paid)
The pages visited
How much time was spent
The time between visits (if multiple sessions)
The final form submission
You see a visual timeline of the visitor’s journey
Pages and time spent are shown clearly
The form submission is marked as the final conversion step
